The object of metropolitan significance on the street Benesova Brno

The concept follows and respects the continuation of city parks on so called Okruzni boulevard where new green vegetation was created after the destruction of ramparts. The polyfunctional building is located on Benesova street and complements the built-up area as a city creating element. The building was solved as a compact mass of which shape, size and roundness reflects other buildings around. The goal of the design is to connect together Koliste and Benesova street and the city park. The building creates business parterre which makes it possible to reach the Koliste street directly from Benesova street through the building. With the help of parterre and generous staircase we can solve the problematic wall barriere and join together whole area. The character and the scale of building is a modern transcription of historical palaces.

Genius loci and the new urban structure

The aim of this diploma project is to design new urban structure regarding current living standards. In close proximity of the historic centre of Trebíč, new residential blocks with additional purposes will be designed and the bus station will be adapted to current needs. Public spaces will be adjusted to focus primarily on people rather than cars. The urban design is based on the historical context of this site by following the original historical structure of the Stařečka buildings. The new blocks use a system of platforms which deals with the difference in terrain and enable placing parking and commercial space as part of the block. The platform also creates private closed courtyard for the inhabitants of the block. The space of the bus station is moved to the ground floor of one of the newly created blocks and its capacity is adjusted to the current needs. The street areas will be supplemented by greenery. Komenského square regain the character of a square instead of just a parking lot, it is moved and adapted to a pleasant public space for people with some public features. The Stařečský stream originally used to flow through this area, but nowadays is piped. The design restores it, brings it back to the ground and reinvolves it into the life of the city. The new Komenského square should not overshadow the existing main and representative Karlovo square in the city centre, but rather work as a local public space for residents to meet-and-greet. In the Polanka locality is newly designed a residential structure formed by blocks as well respecting surrounding buildings. The riverside or the river Jihlava is more implemented into the life of the city, there are riverbank steps and small terraces by the park of Polanka and on the other bank of the river that allows people to come closer to the river.

The diploma thesis deals with the mapping of the Na Podhoří district's greenery in the town of Mělník and a proposal for its revitalization. The evaluated area and the city itself is located in the Central Bohemian Region in the county of Mělník. The first part of the thesis provides information about greenery in cities, areas of urban greenery, its forms, effects on the urban environment and the functions of greenery in the city by the form of literary research. The research part focuses on the analysis and evaluation of the green area of Na Podhoří, based on the mapping and dendrological research. Subsequently, the work deals with a proposal for the revitalization of greenery of the selected city district. The revitalization proposal is supplemented by a plan of planting and subsequent care of planted greenery

Studie stavu a využití vybraných zelených ploch na území města Brna

This bachelor thesis deals with the problems concerned with public green, it is impact on humans and its importance in the urban area. It describes the basic function of green in the urban area including less discussed negative effects on human health and the function of biota. Further, the thesis focuses on the changes of climate and their impact on the society and human health. Marginally, it describes the sustainability of cities and gives examples of green towns in the Czech Republic, in Europe and all over the world. The result of the thesis is the evaluation of the state of 5 selected green areas in Brno and suggestion of relevant measures and recommendation for each area. All areas were evaluated according to the rating chart and based on the field research. All aspects that everyone considers as important in the locations (e. g. enough green, safety, equipment, etc.) were included as evaluation criteria. Some recommendations are presented by visualizations.

This bachelor thesis is discussed about the gardens on the structures and their potential in the urban landscape. The mains subjects of the thesis, dealing with questions of design urban public spaces, will become very current and discussed than until now. It is for his high potentional for use is urban spaces. This thesis focuses on the unconventional forms of green areas. The roofgardens and vertical gardens are the dominant elements.

Natural elements and textures in the image of Czech cities

PhD thesis deals with the impact of natural elements and structures in the image of the city. Topic is on the edge of urbanism, urban composition, aesthetics and landscape protection. This topic is often mentioned in relation with the identification and evaluation of landscape character. Landscape character significantly affects the urban structure of a city -- foundation of the city and functional layout; It is also reflected in the spatial and urban composition. Image of the city can be analyzed from different perspectives, just as it is possible to analyze the urban composition. Image of the city is solved by number of methodologies and PhD theses, although there are rather focused on the landscape or the town silhouette in surrounding landscape. This PhD thesis is focused on natural elements and structures in the city. So it is not about a city in a surrounding landscape but about townscape. It analyzes the image of the city and follows the methodology of Michael Hexner -- it evaluates the image of the city with regard to relationship of urban structures and natural elements with respect to their visual expression and visual appeal. Conclusions of the work define a relationship between the application of natural elements in the image of the city and its positive acceptance, perception and evaluation. The thesis is mainly focused on assessment of an aesthetic and compositional relationship of natural elements inside the city.
